I am, by circumstance and not by choice, a large comsumer of healthcare. Cigna is the current provider I use and they've not been problematic at all. They've never sent me a "Dear John/we're divorcing you from your physician" letter (in the midst of care, mind you).

If you're looking for full disclosure, in addition to humana, BCBS, at times was difficult to deal with, and some small "Mom & Pop" company treated me pretty well. But humana far and above all others was the least 'humane' and kind. Additional disclosure, it was their HMO, not PPO.
I have turned down a job offer before, once I found out who their health insurance provider was.

So, Devil, if you're shopping for health insurance, I would recommend Cigna without any qualms, BSBC with some reservations, and humana-NEVER. I have no experience with AETNA as a provider, but would not recommend them for the sole and completely biased reason that my ex-bf works for them.

GAYCMEGUY - Interesting that you will bash one company and very willingly provide their name while only referring the company that you like as "my current employer's provider". How about some balanced reporting?

I beg to differ. I have stories about Humana that rival your 3 year late card. They 'divorced' me from my PCP, and sent me a "Dear John" letter telling me to retrieve my medical records, after I had complications from a shoulder surgery and refused to return to the same surgeon after he gave differing stories to me in his office, and then to my PCP. My acid letters to insurance companies, Hospital CEOs, and others have become legendary. I have horror stories of other insurance providers, as well.
Fortunately, my current employer's provider has been good to me.
