I read the NY times article and I'm getting mixed messages here. This guy claims to be rigorous biker, eater of olive oil, with "good" cholesterol numbers but admits to having "four beers and large Chinese dinner" the night before his heart attack took place. That does not strike me as something a health conscious person would eat, which makes me think this guy is probably not as healthy or fit as he would like to believe.

I read your article on the NY Times,July 8.
I found something similar to my case. I was very fit, especially after a month of hiking in Australia. Once in Sydney, during a night I had a very bad stomach ache. I went to the hospital and they found I was having a heart attack. They put a stent in one of my arteries. This happened in August 1999.
Once in the States, it happened to me to read a Dr.Ornish book. Since then, I have realized how much fat my diet was, and I started a dr.Ornish diet: no meat, no fish, no olive oil, no cheese, no nuts, but a lot of vegetables, fruits, legumes. After 9 years, I am still have the same diet, of which I am very happy indeed. I am still hiking very often. Of my past heart attack it seems there is no track in my sixmonthly heart tests.

I have been using the same therapy since my hospitalization in Sydney: atenolol 50 mg, 10 mg rosuvastatina, and an aspirin.

Thank you for your attention. Francesco
