I’m happy to have the chance to host the Cancer Research Blog Carnival (CRBC, if you’re cool) once again, this time the 12th(!) edition on August 1!

You’re encouraged to submit your posts on current cancer research and therapeutics here (or by emailing me or the bayblab folks—the CRBC godfathers, or including a link in the comment section of this post) before Thursday, July 31(ish).

Spread the word, yo. Please?

Amazing Word Cloud

Thu 03 Jul 2008 @ 1207

I made this word cloud of my entire weblog using Wordle. It is awesome. Click here for higher resolution.

Okay, okay, I get it. I talk about cancer too much.

Call For The Call For Submissions Of Slightly Profanely-Titled Research Papers

Another title for a potential review down the road: “Eph receptors in cancer: What the Eph is going on?”

That one would get accepted for sure on the basis of its title alone.

The Straight Talk

Thu 15 May 2008 @ 1841

And I agree 100%.

The husband of my mom’s neighbor died a few days ago from renal cell cancer AND small cell lung cancer (Just for a little context: their entire family smokes. She does, he did, and their two kids do too.), and the neighbor was obviously extremely sad and broken up about it, but while my mom was trying to console her, this lady kept telling her how she was planning to sue his doctors because they had only recently diagnosed him with this stuff. Honestly, I truly feel bad for her, but I also wanted to be like, Lady, are you kidding me? STOP SMOKING.

Stop—Cancer Time

Totally forgot to post about this earlier, but the eighth edition of the Cancer Research Blog Carnival, founded way back in 2007 by those crazy Canucks at the bayblab blog, is being hosted this month at The Skeptical Alchemist. Go there.

This is getting huge, and I love it.

Since I totally forgot to mention the seventh edition, it was hosted last month by Walter at Highlight HEALTH. Check that one out too.

You have to ask yourself the question…

Wed 26 Mar 2008 @ 1546
You have to ask yourself the question, ‘Why did the tobacco company want to support her research?’ Dr. Kassirer said. They want to show that lung cancer is not so bad as everybody thinks because screening can save people; and that’s outrageous.

Call For The Call For Submissions Of Slightly Profanely-Titled Research Papers

Tue 04 Mar 2008 @ 2058

At the risk of getting scooped, I’d like to mention that I’ve been thinking of writing a review on Eph receptors in cancer and calling it

“Effin’ Ephrins, Their Effin’ Ephrin Receptors, and the Whole Effin’ Ephrin Cancer Story: The Little We Know and the Loads We Don’t.”

Any suggestions for journals that would accept this? Cancer Research? Nature Reviews? Could be worth a shot.
